The Town Council confirmed this morning that the fixing points will be repaired in time for the upcoming season. We reached our objective through persistent communication with local officials and I will provide an update once the installation schedule is finalized.
We have always thought that the lights strung back and forth across the High Street really enhance Pershore and add to the Christmassy feeling. We were really upset to read in the Evesham Journal that they were no longer going to be put up!
The article, in the Evesham Journal, stated that the fixing points, which the lights attach to, had failed a Health and Safety inspection earlier this year. We think it is disgusting that the Town Council has not done more to save our Christmas Lights and find it difficult to understand why the District Council will not grant planning permission for the points to be replaced.
We want to see the fixing points repaired and the lights back up next year!
The scale of this response is compelling enough to force a formal review by the Town Council. I am currently drafting a letter to the planning department to demand a clear timeline for the repair of the fixing points.

Ridiculous excuse. health and safety is just a catch-all now to stop us having anything nice.
