Employee Pension Preservation Act of 2005
THIS PETITION IS NOW INACTIVE - PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE TO SIGN AS ALL SIGNATURES HAVE BEEN DOWNLOADED TO BE DELIVERED TO REPRESENTATIVE BOEHNER TODAY - JULY 13, 2005 - THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED IN COLLECTING 2547 SIGNATURES. This petition, with all signatures, will be delivered personally to Representative Boehner on July 13, 2005. Dear Represenative Boehner, It is our understanding that you are one of the most influential members of Congress in regard to the Employee Pension Preservation Act of 2005. We are imploring you to allow legacy carriers such as Delta Air Lines additional time to fund pension plans. Your failure to do so places every airline employee who has been promised a pension in jeopardy. Pensions are not bonuses offered at retirement. They are deferred compensation plans. The corporations offering such plans told employees \"Work now for less in exchange for a secure retirement.\" These are funds we earned through years of dedicated service to our companies. We are fighting to preserve that to which we are entitled. Unlike United, Delta Air Lines is doing all possible to make good on past promises. Without your help, however, Delta will have no choice other than to seek bankruptcy protection and turn their plan over to the PBGC. The PBGC is not in a position to continue to absorb these plans at taxpayer expense. PLEASE ACT NOW. WE ARE COUNTING ON YOUR SUPPORT TO SECURE OUR FUTURES.
