Honor due to this deserving worthy man. Addressing racism starts with us. Correcting past injustice demonstrates strength and humility.

I would also like to see a building (or at the very least an assembly hall) named in his honor.

As a member of the Class of '96 at Yale Divinity School, I think it is imperative that Rev. Pennington be awarded a Yale degree. This not only honors Rev. Pennington, but allows us all to build a more inclusive Yale University.

The future can reflect the values we embrace now that we see our past in a new light. Let us be an inspiration to all those who come next.

I wholeheartedly stand by this and would be honored to earn my Yale bachelor's degree along with James Pennington in the Class of 2016.

Especially in the light of the Calhoun controversy this seems a meaningful and appropriate symbolic gesture

I teach at the school attended by Edward Bouchet- Hopkins School in New Haven. Time to recognize James Pennington as Bouchet is recognized.

I was proud at last year's Divinity School graduation to hear Dean Sterling laud this courageous and devout man, and shocked that we did not confer a degree upon him. I trust with this effort Yale will correct that oversight this year.

It will be a proud moment for Yale when, at long last, we acknowledge the academic, moral and spiritual achievements of this remarkable man.

Wonderful idea. Let's also honor Roosevelt Thompson by renaming Calhoun College for him.
