We have live on the Meadow Farm estate now for 31 years, and the speeding problem has gradually got worse. To say it's all down to boy racers is not totally correct, as the speedsters are of of both sexes and all ages. Although I don't live in Heol Y Foel, I totally agree with the others about how dangerous the juntion is. I firmly believe ther is an accident there waiting to happen. For once can the council be proactive and agree to us having speed ramps laid please.

The speed at which the cars travel along this road is dangerous - Sunday we almost saw a car flip over - driving to fast around the corner by the post box

You risk your life entering and exiting Heol y Foel due to the speed drivers of drivers using Pen-yr-Eglwys, knowing the road with little consideration for others.

You take your life in your hands when leaving Heol Y Foel, especially when turning right onto Pen Yr Eglwys. Speeding car drivers give you such dirty looks! But you can't see them coming around the bend...it is a blind junction! If something isn't done (and I don't count a 20mph speed limit as something being done), there will be a death on this spot before long. For goodness sake do something!

I agree that there are often cars driving up Pen Yr Eglwys at speeds significantly in excess of speed limit. I also have an issue in that my house is on Pen Yr Eglwys itself and we cannot often see past cars parked in the disused bus lay-by's outside our home to ensure there is no on-coming traffic.

on numerous occasions I have had near misses exiting Heol Y foel onto Pen-Yr-Eglwys, mostly due to the lack of viibility not speeding but at 30mph there is still little time.

My children were almost killed whilst walking home from the shop by a car driving dangerously fast and lost control. We called 101 who did nothing.

The speed at which most drive is worrying. Boy racers are dangerous. My children were frightened for their lives a few months ago. We called 101 and nothing was done.

I’ve had a number of close shaves over the years trying to get out of my street, only last Sunday I was given the V sign by two speeding cars that appeared to be together and speeding down Pen yr eglwys as I was trying to turn into my street. It’s only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed.

I would agree that there certainly seems to be a problem. We live in Heol Bryn Glas and exit onto Pen Yr Eglwys via Heol Bryn Heulog so fortunately we don’t have any visibility issues. The left hand down hill bend leading down from Heol Bryn Heulog to the traffic lights at the junction with Llantrisant Road poses a problem to those exiting Heol y Foel and indeed pedestrians trying to cross the road to access the steps leading to Parc y Bryn. I agree that some speed mitigation measures need to be implemented, but would hope that this does not lead to a further proliferation of the dreaded “sleeping policemen or speed bumps” they do very little for those who are determined to speed, while rendering a car journey an exceedingly painful experience for those with back or neck problems. Variable speed cameras however appear to work much better as a deterrent, as evidenced by those installed along St Illtyd’s Road. In additional these would generate some much needed revenue from those intent on speeding regardless of the deterrent used, and more importantly allow points to be issued to offenders, neither of which are possible when other traffic calming measures are used.
