This petition serves to inform a grocery store chain of the needs and requests of those people who would support their store in the Pelham Place Shopping Center at 3093 S. Highway 14, Greer, S.C. 29650. Any large grocery chain or specialty grocery store, such as Ingles, Harris Teeter, The Fresh Market, or comparable would be desirable.

Currently there is an empty Bloom/Food Lion store at the stated location. This food chain developed the center, opened as Bloom, converted to Food Lion, then closed. They also closed all other area locations, including two Greer locations, Greenville, Mauldin, Simpsonville, Seneca, and Anderson.

There are numerous housing developments surrounding this site, conveniently located near two highly desirable demographic areas - the Eastside of Greenville (Thornblade/Sugar Creek), and the Five Forks community (Pelham Falls/Christopher Ridge/Kingsbridge) toward Simpsonville, as well as being within a mile of the new Pelham Medical Center and Gibbs Cancer Center. It is a high traffic area with great visibility and traffic count, yet convenient and easily accessible. This unique location, approximately 2.5 miles north of Woodruff Rd & Highway 14, 1.5 miles south of Highway 14 & I-85, and 2 miles east of Pelham Rd & I-85, is the main route between Greer and the Simpsonville/Mauldin area making this a convenient stop between work and home for many commuters.

Residents in the vicinity of this site must travel to congested Woodruff Road or all the way across I-85 to grocery shop. Those that are in the historic Pelham Mill area must travel even farther, sometimes all the way to Wade Hampton Blvd. Even though it is not a rural area, there are no convenient stores accessible to serve this community.
