Please sign this petition as part of a case with the KENNEL CLUB to make them enforce mandatory health checks on bull terrier breeders under the accredited breeder scheme.
The Kennel club are responsible for a lot of good work but I feel they fail us on this issue.
My bull terrier was purchased from a breeder under the accredited breeder scheme and has had to go for extensive corrective surgery due to Luxating Patella.
Im sure there are lots of people out there with health issues regarding there bullies, Here's your chance to make a difference.
Please sign up as I belive we could make a change towards the future health of our bull terriers.
Why leave it up to the breeder who's motives for breeding are not always trustworthy.
There are no good reasons for PDK, UPC, ECG Doppler, BAER and DNA testing not to be carried out along with regular checks for patella luxation.
By not having these checks in place as a compulsery active health monitioring system the health of the breed will suffer in the future because there are too many irresponsible breeders out there breeding for profit only and do not want to pay the money to ensure the health of their stable and effectivly ruin all the good work health concious breeders put in.
So please sign and help weed out the bad breeders amongst the good and help ensure a healthy future for our bullies.
If anyone has or has had a dog that suffered with luxating patella regardless which breed please contact me as the Animal Health Trust would like to build up a data base of genes from dogs with the condition.
They will send you a simple swab kit, All you need to do is swab your dogs mouth and send it back to them, If they get enough DNA samples they could apply for funding to investigate what is causing this condition to be present within our dogs.

The Kennel Club cannot keep ignoring this groundswell of outrage while our dogs suffer for the sake of their profit margins. This momentum proves that people are finally fed up with their negligence and we are not going to back down until these mandatory health checks are nonnegotiable.

My boy has had two surgeries for patellas already. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. This needs to be standard for all breeders.
My vet bills are insane. If the breeder had done the right checks this could have been avoided. shameful.
poor dogs deserve so much better than this. please fix the system so we stops seeing so many sick babies.
The kennel club just cares about the money. We need real rules to stop these greedy people from hurting these dogs.
Enough is enough. Health testing should be mandatory for everyone in the club. No excuses.
