This development is not only inelegant, as pointed out by Islington Council, it is totally inappropriate, excessive, led by the greed of the developers, and has only profit for people who don't live in Dalston. For the residents, this will only deprive us from precious light (I live very near by), and will overcrowd even more the already overcrowded area. It doesn't provide enough services and it will destroy the character and inheritance of Ridley Road Market

What is this doing for the local community ? For the people who have lived, grown up and invested in this area for years ? Regeneration SHOULD include the community, not excluding them from the very area they have build up. All these new places in dalston and very little affordable/Social housing.

This proposal has no benefit for the local community as only 15% of the flats would be affordable.
It seems as if the council wants to attract more and more of white middle class people. What about Dalston's diversity!?!

Agree with other comments. This proposal is completely out of keeping with the local area. I am very concerned by its effect on the local area, both environmentally and in spirit. I doubt you would find anyone from the local area in support of this if they had opportunity to review the information

Dalston has a commuity feel about it, and a big block of unaffordable flats would not be contributing to the community, but merely seems to be a way for the property developers to make money. Dalston needs more affordable and social housing.

The building at ground level is a grey monstrosity and the tower is totally out of keeping with the surrounding area; why can't Dalston keep its homely feel with imaginative architecture and conservertation at its heart?

London needs affordable homes for those who work here, not investment penthouses for greedy overseas residents who needn't even let it to make money on it, at the expense of the local environment which would be ruined by such a gratuitously high building. The Committee should follow the previous decision and refuse permission for this selfish, overtly profit-oriented and greedy overdevelopment.

I agree that this building is highly inappropriate for the location. It would dominate and spoil all the views in the area. We have seen a great deal of residential building in the local area over the last few years, nearly all of which is small flats, causing increased pressure on infrastructure and travel is becoming very difficult on public transport. Given the local demographic, the area does not need any more high cost dwellings and is in greater need of social housing or other affordable rented accommodation. The tower would evidently reduce the natural light to neighbouring buildings as well as causing accelerated wind speeds locally, a typical feature of tall buildings.

Already too many high rise buldings in Dalston , they will destroy the area's character and appeal. More affordable housing for families but not in towers please.

Another pig-ugly tower for monied non-locals, with huge profits going to a private developer who'll put nothing back into the community, isn't what Dalston, or the world, needs.

I am 49 and have come to Dalston every year since 1996 to enjoy the athmosphere, the people, my friends, the lovely neighborough. I have a strong connection with the area and a tree planted in Clissold park to remember my wife who died years ago of cancer. I love Dalston. It is my second home (I am Italian and live in Vicenza). I like Dlaston the way it is and can conceive works that make it more pleasant for people to live. Not awful projects which would ruin Dalston just for the profit of few people.
