To the Office of Senator Mikulski: So that people can move about freely and securely, all parties to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict must be held accountable. We are MD constituents and support the strong stance that Obama's administration is taking towards a two-state solution. One of Netanyahu's conditions is recognition of Israel. Obama's strategy is comprehensive and incorporates the 2002 Arab Peace Iniative. It offered to integrate, recognize and normalize relations with Israel in exchange for a withdrawal from occupied territory and a just settlement for refugees. Some reports show that the humanitarian situation is improving as border crossings are allowing about 130 trucks in. But 500 trucks are needed. (1) If a unity government were to form, it would be easier for aid to reach the Gaza Strip, and for the Peace Process to move forward. (2) Because Senator Mikulski sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, we'd like her to support the $840 million in funds for Palestinian reconstruction. We would also like the Senator to support and preserve Obama's request for a legal ammendment that would allow aid to a unity government. This provision was also espoused by Secretary Clinton.
