I am surprised this is even up for consideration, I thought most schools did this for obvious reasons?

Yes, they do get a lot of exercise.... so I don't think this is an unreasonable request.

I was a member of marching band, and was my most fit during those seasons - I was also more active during band practice than during any of my PE classes where walking around the track was always an option as opposed to getting much real exercise
