Though rarely enforced, Portland's anti-scalping ordinance bars anyone from reselling tickets for events at the Rose Garden and city-owned venues for more than the original retail price. Violators face a maximum $500 fine and six months in jail. Ticket scalpers are driving up the prices of tickets so high that normal people can't afford them. I wanted to take my daughter to Hannah Montana and could not get seats anywhere for less than $1,000. That is ridiculous! This was a kids event. Raping people for $1,000 for tickets to a kids event is ludicrous. We have to stop these guys from ripping us off and driving up the prices so high we can't take our family and kids to events normally supposed to cost very little. We should be able to take our children to these events at a REASONABLE price. That is why we have anti-scalping laws. Our police department chooses to ignore these criminal acts over and over again.
