I am a Richmond resident and a police officer outside of Richmond. I want the best possible people to help protect my community. A pay scale will help achieve high quality applicants, officers and help retain them.

Our officers put themselves on the line and the pay in Richmond is horrible. No wonder we can't keep officers here.

I am a retired state police officer and have lived here with my family for 6 years. I have watched the crime increase in town during this time period, all while the police force dwindled. Not to mention one of Richmond's finest being killed in the line of duty.
I have personally had to call on the police department for several crimes I have witnessed, while out shopping at area stores. Some of those were DUI drivers, running people off the road. Drug deals happening right behind Whitehall Elementary. Three different times I witnessed people doing drugs in public places. Again, these are things I have witnessed myself, during the daytime.
Without a doubt, if the police department was staffed at full capacity, more police would be on the streets, preventing these types of crime.
These officers deserve the pay increase!! They put their lives on the line every day.
Richmond City officials need to step up and do the right thing!

If we have ever needed good police officers we need them NOW! Surely you know that.

I am a small business owner here in town and know how much we need more police officers and to get good help we need to pay them and train them to be apart of our community. Our town needs to be protected to grow into a place where others want to move to and the ones that are here feel that we are safe and want to stay.

I ask the Richmond City Commission to do the right thing right now and adopt the Police Wage Scale Proposal presented by former Chief of Police Larry Brock and current Interim Chief Bob Mott.

They put their lifes on the line everyday for the people of Madison country they should get the highest level of pay.
