The Richmond Police Department is severely understaffed, which is dangerous for officers as well as the citizens they protect. A new pay scale was developed in order to help retain officers, who are leaving in droves for higher paying departments. However, the mayor refuses to give the new scale the consideration it deserves. Let our mayor know you do NOT feel safe when only 5 officers are on patrol at a time. Sign the petition below and urge him to adopt the pay scale, both for your safety and the safety of the brave policemen who serve us.

As a former RPD officer the city needs to stand behind this department and give them the pay they deserve. The city sure didn't mind taking several incentives from officers when I was employed there. It's past time to give back.
It is very important to have a trained police force. Retention is a huge part of being able to accomplish this aspect. These individuals risk their lives every day and deserve a raise and a salary comparable to other cities so that we can keep the officers.
I am a Richmond resident and a police officer outside of Richmond. I want the best possible people to help protect my community. A pay scale will help achieve high quality applicants, officers and help retain them.
Work prevents me from making it to the meetings but RPD has my full support and I don't see how our government can deny this pay raise! I'm outraged and will pay closer attention next time a vote comes around.
As a retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer and proud USAF veteran, I am honored to sign this petition for my brothers and sisters in blue. Pay them what they deserve!! They have earned it and continue to earn it everyday! Pay them now!!
They deserve more pay for protecting and serving us
Seriously long over due that this is passed. Mayor Barnes needs to remember who he's going to call when his home is broken into!

Richmond is a growing city. There is no reason we shouldn't assume that our police force doesn't need to grow at the same rate. These men & women deserve to have the backup necessary to keep the city as well as themselves safe.
