This project does exactly the opposite of what the DDOT officials and the Mayor say we need or want. This will bring much more congestion, dangerous situations for residents, bikers and children and no benefit at all to the residents and businesses along Columbia Road. The ANC and our council representative are not representing the neighborhood and this needs to be addressed as well. Who is benefiting - the makers of those white traffic delineators are. Who has the contract on them?

This plan is unnecessary and dangerous. It is in complete opposition to peer-reviewed studies that have identified streets with alleys and many driveways as being unsuitable to protected bike lanes (identifying Washington, DC as a city which is especially prone to such streets). It will create congestion between Connecticut Avenue and 18th Street, NW, where traffic currently flows well. It will create dangerous situations for school children as well as cyclists in the afternoon exit from the Adams school. The ANC has erroneously reported full community support for this project where very little exists.

The voices of those who live on and immediately adjacent to Columbia Rd, who pay DC taxes, and who rely on public transportation must be heard. Elites who don't live here, many of whom don't even live in the District, see the neighborhood as an inconvenience to be surmounted as a sacrifice to their strongly held but not truly majority views.

I have personally talked to almost fifty Columbia Rd business owners and/or managers who think the bike land grab (sneakily labeled as a bus project) is an absolutely terrible idea.

In this case, DDOT remains completely controlled by a narrow population of well funded, and well organized bike zealots and their bike licking politicians. Some positive changes are in process, however this specific effort remains undeterred. Time for - I'm mad as .... and I'm not going to take this anymore.

This community has never been afforded the opportunity to query via a live, in person meeting our Ward 3 City Council member, DDOT officials, or our ANC representatives during what we have learned has been very extended process going back several years. Only recently has the community become aware of the many details of his project which will have very serious consequences on both the residential and business community.

This was supposed to be a bus lane priority project. When did it turn into a bikelane project with the bus situation being left worse than it was now with stops being eliminated? Our tax dollars have to stop going to the bike lobbyist WABA. As long as we continue to fund them they will continue to use our tax dollars to work against our interests and for their interests and non-profit profits.
