As a cyclist, I think DDOT’s plan is a bad move. I am also a resident pedestrian and motorist who uses Columbia Rd and again, DDOT’s plan is a bad move.

Pause ALL bike lane construction. Hold REAL resident engagement in the form of Town Halls. Conduct studies on each area before considering bike lanes. Create and pass legislation to require bike registration to identify bad actors who create unsafe environments for all modes of transportation. Recognize that bike lanes are not the panacea for traffic or safety. They create congestion and large amounts of restricted/privileged space.

This plan is bad for the businesses on Columbia Road it endangers, elderly people and handicap people in terms of getting access to the bus and the recommended. Bike lanes are too small to actually be safe for bicycle riders.

I've been an Adams Morgan resident since 1971 and I've seen a lot of things. But I've never seen such a poorly thought-out project as this one from DDOT. It will spell the end for some of our businesses as they are robbed of the parking they need to attract customers. It will endanger all pedestrians as they have to cross bike lanes to cross streets or board a bus.

From what I can understand, this solution does not seem appropriate for Columbia Rd, and I am concerned about its impact on those who live in this neighborhood.

DDOT is destroying transporttion in this city

The proposal is not in the community’s interest and will result in the loss of significant parking in an area where parking is incredibly scarce. People need their cars to get to work, school, and medical appointments! Where are we supposed to park if these spots are removed?

Resident. I am a bus rider, pedestrian, and cyclist. Shaving a few moments off of bus ride times is not a sufficient reason for the extreme measures involved in this plan. Removing bus stops will discourage use of mass transit, which is contrary to DC's and DDOT's stated goals.

I oppose. When I witness the chaos on 14th I refuse to have this situation in my neighborhood and see the small businesses struggling to survive.

Very dangerous results to safety of residents. Children and adults, including many seniors live here. It totally compromises their ability to enjoin the their homes.
