I recently learned that Paul Collum will not be coming back to Missouri Baptist University as the Head Assistant for the Men's Wrestling team. Myself and a few other wrestlers were in Chicago running a wrestling camp with Paul when he let us know he was not given another position on campus and could no longer financially support his family on his current salary at MBU. Paul is a huge reason the wrestling team has strived the last few years. He leads by example in the classroom and on the mats. He is a few internship hours away from finishing his Master's degree at Missouri Baptist University with straight A's. He will also be enrolling in a Doctorate of Education program in August for the sole reason of bettering himself. He is an unreplaceable assett to any wrestling program because of his passion for the sport, leadership, and work ethic. He goes out of is way to make sure everyone on this team has what they need to succeed and is willing to sacrifice what little he has to give to us. Paul makes us all better individuals because of his moral and spiritual values with which he lives his life. We believe the revenue that the wrestling team brings in, mainly because of Coach Collum's reputation in the wrestling community, is more than sufficient enough to give Coach Collum a salary/benefits that he and his family can comfortably live off of. We wish to inform the administration, athletic department, and the University Board that everyone that signs this petition is willing to unenroll from Missouri Baptist University and seek other options for our future/current collegiate careers if Coach Collum is not financially given an option to continue to coach at Missouri Baptist University. We understand that there will be eligibility issues with transferring after signing committment letters and will have to sit out a semester before being eligible to compete for another institution. We will take that chance. Please feel free to contact anyone of us on this issue. We hope and Pray that Paul will be with us here at MBU for many years to come.
