We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to commission immediate political intervention into overturning the guilty verdict on Paul Clarke for possessing a firearm. On March 20th, ex-soldier Paul Clarke found a shotgun in Merstham and handed it into the local police station, as recommended by local police. He was then arrested immediately for possession of a firearm at Reigate police station, and taken to the cells. At Guildford Crown Court, the jury were confronted with confusion and within 20 minutes Mr. Clarke was found guilty on the grounds of 'having no defence'. He faces a minimum of five years sentence on December 11. By signing this, I instruct you, our elected official, to immediately intervene (or commission immediate intervention) and either clear Mr.Clarke of all charges or order a full and transparent re-trial. Absolutely disgraceful! How can they lock up a hero who was just trying to keep the streets safe? total joke of a trial.

This is absolute madness. The man was doing the right thing by handing it in and now he gets punished for it? The law is completely broken if this is allowed to happen.
