This man's bravery makes him worthy of a ship being named after him.

Without exception and or hesitation, the Navy needs to honor one of its sons proclaiming him as one of their own, by naming one of those vessels after CpL Gallagher. A Medal of Honor recipient, no less!. This US Marine deserves that measure of respect, for giving his life to the Corps and therefore, the Navy. Its the right thing to do.

I hope this comes to be! As an old destroyer man, I can not think of a higher honor for this man.

No higher honor can be given to Cpl. Patrick Gallagher USMC an Irish Immigrant who fought along side of his fellow Marines during the raging battles of Vietnam and ultimately paid the final tribute for his fellow Marines. My Uncle Patrick Kelly of Ballyglass,Kiltimagh,Co.mayo son Martin Kelly USMC was awarded Purple Heart during Vietnam years.

This man was not even a citizen, yet went to war for his "adopted" country. Surely he rests on the arms of Our Lord.

Young Patrick was only in the U.S. for 18 months before being drafted. He stepped up and went to serve his new country. His brave actions saved others, what a courageous young man. He is deserving of this honor.

War takes too many lives. And, too many very young ones. I hope they will honor young Patrick as the petition requests. May it bring some peace to his family.
