As an Irish man I am very proud, not only of Patrick Gallagher's bravery but of all the Irish that fought and tragically died (over 31 men) in Vietnam. This naming would be a fitting tribute to their bravery and self-sacrifice.

By naming a ship after Corporal Gallagher the US Navy would not only be honouring his life but those of all the Irish who served under their flag.

Happy to sign petition, In memory of my friend who lost life to cancer who was mother to two beautiful Vietnamese girls. She would have been 50 next year. My aunt's brother Michael lynch "irish" was also a veteran of the same conflict.

It would be a great honour for this man from another country we have close ties with the US, Irish have fought for both sides in the civil war and for the US in both wars 1st and 2nd.
