Bob was only a few years older than me, circumstances can be very hard on people a foot either way and he would have walked home

I served in the USMCR and in Vietnam from January to December 1970. Cpl Gallagher's unselfish bravery deserves to be recognized.

Naming the ship for Cpl Gallagher would be a fitting tribute to a hero.

Thank you Frank, both for your service and for taking time to join our petition. We are hopeful that the new year will be a joyful & healthful year for you and yours. It is inspiring to know that fifty years later, the individual stories are still shared, friends are remembered and through that experiences are carried forward to another generation.

I served in the USMCR from 1967-71. I was in Vietnam with rank of Captain in 1968-69. It is a great honor for me to sign this petition on behalf of Corporal Patrick "Bob" Gallagher.

RIP Patrick. As an Irish immigrant living in Boston it would be great to see the contribution made by so many Irish people to the liberty and freedom of the USA throughout history. At Dheis De Go Raibh Anam.

Having listened to documentary "Mayo boy Vietnam hero" I decided to sign petition. Such bravery for one so young.

I am always proud of my Irish heritage. God bless Patrick. My brother was in Vietnam at the same time. I will send this story to him.
