I served in Viet Nam in the Marine Corps and my maternal Grandmother, Kate Delaney Duffy was born and raised in Ballyhaunis. Naming a ship for CPL Gallagher will be a fitting tribute.

A Mayo man, living in America, giving his life for his comrades in Viet Nam-what a story! God bless you, Corporal.

I was Patrick's pen pal at the age of 10, when he was serving in Viet Nam. He was such a great gentleman, and kind man to write to a little kid like me and to share his world - of Ireland AND Viet Nam! I only learned in the past 2 years of our connection, and learned of his death there. He was a great hero - Irish AND American!

Anyone who jumps on a grenade is sacrificing their life. You have no way of knowing if it will explode. Served with 2/3 as a hospital corpsman. we were on operation Hastings
