As a veteran myself; I feel that Corp. Gallagher deserves the Honor of having a DDG class ship named in his honor.

Although this brave young Marine was not a citizen, he proudly supported his adopted Nation. In so doing, Patrick Gallagher exemplified the American values of Honor, Service to Country, and Valor; which had been sadly overlooked by many native born Americans of his generation. He is deserving of this honor and legacy.

Should've named a ship after this Marine years ago.

Remarkable bravery, honour an ultimately sacrifice from a young Mayoman in the spring of his life. Died 50 years ago today. May he rest in peace.

Thank you for your support, and for your service with the Irish Coastguard whose courage in weather good and bad, has resulted in saved lives of loved ones from many families, all of whom are grateful for the service of Rescue 116's Capt. Fitzpatrick, Capt. Duffy, Paul Ormsby, Ciaran Duffy and their colleagues still serving the country today.
