A man who gives his life for others in the Military deserves to be honored by having a ship named after him. A ship that will go into harms way the way Corporal Patrick Gallagher did.

His unselfish acts in a time of war to save other American soldiers is deserving of this recognition.

While it was probably the furthest thing from Patricks mind while he served as a U.S. Marine he followed in a strong tradition of Irish men serving and defending the United States of America with they very lives till their last breath. God bless all who serve and have served whose native land of birth was Ireland. Nameing a ship after Patrick would also recall the great bond of friendship, service, and corperation between our two nations. This is forged by our young men wearing your uniforms defending freedom and liberty. Patrick Gallagher was one of those Irish who lived and died to prove his oath to serve was true....

Actions the very same as Cpl. Gallagher's sacrifice usually merit he award of the Medal of Honor. The naming of a ship in his honor would rectify an omission.
