I served during V.N. War at the Fleet Intelligence Center Pacific Facility '68 to '70. This lad deserves the title. The good ship Gallagher, there will be songs written.

No relation...but it's only right and fitting. God bless Cpl. Gallagher, his service and his sacrifice.

There is no greater sacrifice than to give up your own life for the good of others. Rest in peace Patrick

Irish have fought in many major conflicts, often on both sides. The American Civil War, being a prime example. My father once said, "We were busy fighting everyone Else's war when we should have been fighting our own". But he was always proud of the service we Irish gave to other nations.

Many thanks to Niall O'Dowd and the staff at irishcentral.com for running a follow up story on Patrick Gallagher, all the more pleasing considering that it's publication fell on Patricks bday.
Thanks Niall,
Martin and Marius, petition organizers

Corporal Gallagher was from the village in Ireland, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, that is my maternal ancestral home. Please honour his dedicated service to The United States. He paid the ultimate sacrifice. Sincerely, Mark O'Brien, Sherborn, Massachusetts

I think this would be a wonderful gesture. Those who returned were never shown the appreciation that was due them. My brother was KIA 7-26-66 in Viet Nam
