My great uncle, Francis Daniel Day, was Chief Water Tender (CWT) of the U.S.S. Oklahoma when she capsized at Pearl Harbor. Knowing he would not get out, he shoved 15 sailors through a porthole to safety. My grandmother received the Navy and Marine Corps medal in his stead and christened the U.S.S. Day in his honor. I cannot begin to describe what that meant to my family
Patrick deserves this and he would be so proud of you all for honoring him this way. God bless

Please honor this young man's courage, dedication and sacrifice by allowing one of our U.S. Navy ships to be dedicated with his name. As a U.S. Marine, I believe this would be a fitting tribute to this man and his family.

I came to the US in 1960 as a youngster. Patrick's bravery for his adopted country is admirable.

request that the Secretary of the Navy direct that a DDG class ship scheduled to be procured in or after 2017, be named in honor of Corporal Patrick "Bob" Gallagher, USMC, Navy Cross, of Ballyhaunis, Co. Mayo, Ireland (KIA ~ Da Nang 1967)

As a US Navy parent and Former soldier who served with exceptional men and women of foreign birth, naming a US ship after this courageous man is more than appropriate.

Deserves recognition for his act of bravery to his beloved adopted country. Like myself, he loved it deeply.
Hope that this ship will be called after a true hero, Patrick
Gallagher.

Corporal Gallagher's actions and great sacrifice serve as an inspiration for all, and would be particularly for those Naval Personnel who will serve on this US Warship. Corporal gallagher's personal history and service to the USA compare favorably with those previously chosen for this recognition.
