I am 18, and I don't know who my father is. I have not been allowed to even look for him until my birthday. I wanted to have a DNA test, and I have recently been refused by one of the men suspected to be my father. I attempted to get a lawyer because I figured as an american citizen, I should have the right to know who my father is. WRONG. Turns out, I have not right to know my father, unless he decides he wants me to know. I cannot in any way force him to have a test. Another man agreed to test, but if it comes back negative, I will never know who my father is. I am petitioning to get an amendment to the constitution that as an american citizen, everyone over the age of 18 has a legal right to find his/her father through the means of DNA testing. This will mean that through evidentiary proof provided by the biological mother, the suspected fathers will be forcibly given a DNA test and ensured results will be shared with the involved parties. We should all have a right to know our parents, the ones who gave us life. Right?
