He retired in December 2015 and still serves the community through his social media presence. We call on Derry and Strabane District Council to award Pat the Freedom of the City and District.

One of the most outstanding & committed public representatives we have seen here. His dedication to the community of Derry & further afield should surely be acknowledged in awarding him the Freedom of Derry & Strabane.
Long overdue , Pat has done more for his home city than a lot of the present so called councillors and politicians, past and present.
Pat, the gentle giant, is kind to everyone he comes across. Well beyond his years as a political representative people continue to turn to him for help. Loved by all this would be a fitting tribute to a compassionate and humble man
I'm a Republican but Pat is someone who deserves to be honoured for the work he has done over the years for Derry people and indeed prisoners.
Might aswell go to a hard working individual than some pseudo celebrity. Pat contributes to the community on a daily basis.

grew up next door to Pat in Lisfannon Pk, as we are all grown up,married and moved to other places in the city Pat doesn't forget you, as an MLA and in retirement Pat is still for this City and still a gentleman.
