Pass an Education Levy Now
Sherwood schools provide an excellent, well-rounded education for all Sherwood kids. Our schools are among the best in the state, making Sherwood a special place to live and raise a family. Our schools are the heart of this community and we need to ensure they have the funds to maintain the excellent education families expect out of Sherwood Schools.
For years, legislators in Salem have failed to provide enough funding to ensure districts like Sherwood can keep pace with the increasing costs of schools. Increased costs outside the control of the district include PERS (retirement), new state programs (Paid Leave Oregon), fuel, insurance, supplies, etc. have risen faster than funding from the state. Sherwood used to keep up with rapid growth, but now faced with flat enrollment, and a series of other financial challenges, the quality of our children's education is at serious risk of declining in the next year.
Sherwood can face this challenge and control its own future. By passing a local education levy, we can raise funds in Sherwood that will stay in Sherwood to ensure we maintain a quality education for every student. An education levy would last no more than five years and ensure the district has a stable and predictable revenue source so we're not solely reliant on the ups and downs of political fighting in Salem. We can join our neighbors in West Linn-Wilsonville, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Tigard-Tualatin, and other high performing districts and protect our kids’ education, our future as a community, and our property values by passing the education levy now.
Sherwood School District Board of Directors - please vote YES for Sherwood Schools and send an education levy to the voters in May 2023!
