First of all, I’d like to comment on your above message as an overall. It is a very preposterous message with the intention of intimidating students into not asking for their right back.
Moreover, I would want to point out that the software licenses that are currently being used for online learning, the ones you said are costing a ‘buttload’, were made to be freely accessible for schools, universities, and companies by the government during these times. Those softwares include Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Adobe Connect.
I completely understand that the staff is overworked to figure out what to do for the students during this time, but then again, said staff are working from home, which means their expenses are significantly reduced.
Further to add, I am sure whoever started this petition has thought about the consequences thoroughly.
I’d also like for you to look at this matter from our perspective as-well.
1) Our Tuition Fees are supposed to be utilized on multiple services that we are not receiving. (Computers in labs, metro bus, libraries, etc)
2) The expenses of UOWD has significantly decreased with this suspension of on campus classes. Knowledge Village Rent has been suspended for the next 6 months. Dewa and Telecom Bills have been reduced by 20%, and collection has been delayed for the next three months. I could keep going, but I’m sure you get the point.
3) Most industries have suffered from salary delays and due to the situation that is happening world wide at the moment. There are a lot of families out there that have lost their jobs, their salaries, etc.. A major part of our students at this point don't have the means to support themselves or their families due to what happened.
Finally, something I want say on a personal level, I would hate for your salary to get cut for whatever reason. But, as you can see, this is a situation that has affected all of us as a whole. People are just trying to make the
