The council finally agreed to close the entrance of Rivington Street to through traffic. I am so relieved our streets will finally be safe for everyone who loves this neighborhood. We should enjoy this win but I will be keeping a close eye on the implementation to ensure it stays …
Want to enjoy one of the best streets in Shoreditch, without the fear of being ran over? So do we.
Hackney council have just invested over £100k in laying beautiful granite slabs and sets to enhance this part of Shoreditch. We would like it to remain beautiful for all users of this area.
In order to do that we would like to see Hackney Council make the entrance of Rivington Street, from Curtain Road pedestrianised/open to cycle traffic and closed to vehicular traffic.
Locals and regulars alike will know that this road is primarily used as a short cut through to Shoreditch High Street by drivers seeking to avoid the Curtain Road/Old Street traffic lights.
If we can get approval for Rivington Street to be part pedestrianised we can maintain the beautiful aesthetics of the new street works. Also, we can ensure that users of the area can enjoy great venues like The Diner, Fix 126, Callooh Callay, Franco's, Artword Bookshop, The Comedy Cafe, Bedroom Bar, Cargo and Dragon Bar.

Seeing this momentum grow reminds me how many of us are tired of watching cars speed past our favorite local spots. I spend every day walking these slabs and it is time we reclaim the space for the people who actually call this neighborhood home.

Stop the rat run. We paid for the nice paving now lets keep it nice instead of trashing it with taxis and vans.

Rivington street is lovely now but way too busy with cars cutting through. needs to be for people not traffic.
