Stop Bullying in the Parkland District Schools

PETITION FOR AN ANTI-BULLYING PROGRAM IN ALL
PARKLAND DISTRICT SCHOOLS
We, the undersigned, call on the Parkland School District to stop any form of bullying in every level of education (Pre-K through 12) by incorporating an Anti-bullying program in all Parkland Schools.
This program would include instruction to all students as follows:
Encourage students to demonstrate, understanding, respect and valuing of themselves and others.
Empower students by teaching, practicing and supporting constructive communication and conflict resolution skills.
Reinforce playground behavior guidelines and positive social relationships.
Develop opportunities and skills for social interaction (through play, games and 'hanging out'), which contribute to positive peer relations and networks.
Review bullying and safety issues by surveys and observations.
Develop and maintain peer, help and formal networks and support systems for early response through for ex; peer support and peer mediation.
Provide a safe place to report bullying problems.
A school district policy against harassment, intimidation or bullying shall be incorporated into a school's employee training program.
Follow school guidelines on incident response and ensure understanding of the consequences and goals of reinforcing everyone's right to be safe at school.
We urge you to increase anti-bullying efforts in the Parkland School District. We feel you could start by including easily accessible, Anti-bullying information on the Parkland School District website and by communicating all that the school district is doing to combat bullying in the classroom.
