Glendale Community College has a fantastic parking structure, why can't we?

I agree 100%. It's so irritating to see the students are having to park through the neighborhoods and walking up the hill to get to class. My daughter goes to school before 7am even when her class is not till 10 or 11 am just to make sure she gets parking space. It's absurd that the students are paying $50 for parking and not guaranteed a parking space. Why can't they build a multi-level parking structure? They solar to lit the parking just like the rest of the high schools in SCV.
I agree that it's unfair for the school to allow film crews & vendors using & blocking a huge chunk of the spaces when the students are already short of space.

If I'm going to pay $50 for a parking permit, I better be guaranteed parking.

I arrived well about an hour early--still could not find a parking space. One car drove off from where they were parked--which was at a "no-parking" space, which could have accommodated three more parking spaces, and it would not have been an obstruction to traffic either. I decided to park there after aimless circling for fifty minutes (else I'd have missed a quiz in-class that cannot be made-up). Unfortunately for me, as I returned back from class, a hefty $35 charge laid waiting for me on my car's window. Ahahaha. Good game, well played, COC.

This is beyond necessary for the students of COC nobody needs a view of a freeway.

Down side of a parking structure would be that with construction we would be down about 100-200 spots. I am pretty sure that would further complicate the situation. There is also the problem that many residents of the surrounding area have said that such a structure would be an eyesore that would cause their property value to plummet. Conclusion, the sheer amount of negatives offset the positives to a certain degree.

When who ever it was designing the school, had a pretty good idea on the max amount of students as well as staff personel it would have on any given day,well I think the genius got his math wrong when adding the same amount of parking spaces to accommodate those students and staff. Stop adding more class rooms unless your going to add adequate parking.

Even for handicapped people, it is very had to find parking! I have a placard and still had to drive around for a while to find parking :/

I was almost 40 minutes late to my class yesterday because I had to drive around looking for parking and I got to the campus 30 minutes before class started. I had to park on a residential street and walk a half mile to my class. It's not okay that we have to deal with this issue. The amount of students that go to COC out grew the number of parking spots that are provided for us a very long time ago. It's time to do something about it.

delete Signed! But, also, there are multiple ways to solve one problem, and coming at a problem from all angles is necessary. SCV has a wonderful public transportation system. I think more awareness should be created towards utilizing this system. Also, I do not know if the school sells discounted bus passes to students (I can almost guarantee they would), but again, more awareness of this tool. Public transportation in my opinion will be the biggest help to this problem as it removes the number of cars trying to park. Needless to say, just one part of the solution. A parking garage is essential as well. Good luck with this!

My son is a student at COC and has to leave so early just to find parking. This is unfair, especially for those who purchase a parking pass. Please fix this problem.

If students are sold parking passes, there ought to be spots for them to park! Sometimes students wait or drive around for over an hour for a spot! We have busy lives and cannot schedule extra hours for the day for such things especially with jobs and dependents. For the school to act ethically on this matter it absolutely must either make parking free, make enough parking for all students, or enroll less students so this does not happen. The obvious choice between the three is more parking, but you decide which.

Parking has always been annoying at CoC. LAVC has a parking garage and it's amazing and looks great!

If I'm going to pay $50 for a parking permit, I better be guaranteed parking.
