it's the social responsibility of the employer to provide free parking for the employees or provide parking with minimal charges.

Also not fair to charge the lower staff with small wages while bosses with big salaries go scot free. Akin to royalty not having to pay gst.

We understand ukm needs money. Please check your finances first and make sure it's clean, transparent and prudent. Hctm makes a lot of money but we staff don't get to see its benefit. What we earn we should get back to ensure a reward system that motivates its staff, not penalize us. Top down decisions have so far been unpopular and unfair.

I'm strongly disagree with this issue as it is not fair to burden the workers for the insufficient university funding. It is such an irony, when you are required to pay for your privileges when you are indeed working for them and thus indirectly raising funds for the university. It just doesn't make sense.

We understand the need to source for funding for the hospital. However, the manner and implementation of enforced parking fees need to be given more thought. Few key questions:
1. Is it actually legal since we have provisions to claim parking?
2. Even if it is legal to charge for parking, is it legal to deduct it from our monthly pay with no other options of payment?
3. Is it justified on principle in a sense of this being the only way to increase the funding to support the running costs of the hospital, i.e. has the issue of budget and fund management been thoroughly examined and optimised?

HUKM should be more transparent and proactive in charting its course within the immediate future by having a masterplan on income generating measures for short and lonflg term. We should not be knee jerk reacting to calls by the top management. All future plans should be thoroughly evaluated before being implemented.
