It's become a real stress to try and park everyday, something does need to be done.

This school is so close to a main road with young children coming out of school it would make it so much safer

Improvements are needed due to the location of the school to police hq and also the busy road into Lewes.

This is a pressing problem that needs a comprehensive review and solution that is addresses the competing needs of parents, local residents and the bus company - and the rights of the public to park outside the CPZ.

Sorry, but your all commenting about police staff parking, but what about residents who have to put up with parents parking dangerously come 8:30 & 3 o'clock & Blocking driveways? (Yes, mine has been blocked on a number of occasions). And the main culprits are Malling residents driving from Old Malling to Queens Rd, Barn Road etc etc. maybe those who travel a distance should be allowed a temp parking permit but those within walking distance should maybe just learn to use there feet or accept they cannot park on the schools doorstep. It's a common problem with most schools. Wallands is no different. As for flattening the green? How about losing the playing field? A much better idea. Tarmac it over so lazy parents can drop there kids of at school!

I understand you have parents that travel and realise that they need to drop off, but if the parents would understand that driving an extra 200yds they would most probably be able to park. Queens road, Barn Road etc are total no go areas at start / finish time due to parents cars. Inconsiderate parking & dangerous parking is common. That isn't the schools issue, that is down to the car owners themselves to find somewhere safe and sensible to park. As for lazy parents, I know of a few that drive from Old Malling and do not work. I know it can be hard in the mornings, kids not getting ready, getting up late but parents have got to stop thinking they have a right to park where they want. Lewes has over the years become massively overcome with cars and generally the infrastructure and 1950's street layouts are not built to cope with such loads. It's down to us all to think twice before using the car if it's not really necessary, before we plan on digging up green areas and losing what Lewes is famous for.

Thank you - I agree that we need to find an amicable solution and I am not for digging up green areas either - It was a suggested solution from some people but I don't think that it will ever be one that stands due to it being a green space and the large mount of money it would cost to change it..... Hopefully together, we can find a solution.

I will take a look at the site, thank you. I know that we have arranged walking buses before and please know that the school is doing what they can to address this situation by encouraging children to cycle to school where possible.... It's not like we are sitting and doing nothing - we have tried and still are looking at what revenues we can do to help ease this congestion.
