Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) was introduced by Richard A. Gardner, (a clinical professor of psychiatry) in the year 1985, after he noticed certain symptoms of children from divorced families where the children were showing anger, disrespect, and lack of affection toward the alienated parent due to the influence of the alienating party. There are several types of alienation that takes place in divorced families. These types of alienation of a child from his/her specific parent causes emotional/mental distress on a child, which leaves apparent developmental and insecurity issues, and ultimately destroys the child/parent relationship. I personally, am experiencing this in my divorce, and I am having to watch my nine and five year old children suffer, and show serious signs of the issues above. The goal of this petition is to bring awareness of PAS as a type of emotional abuse of children to the courts, and local state human resource departments. To bring about a law that would protect/shield a child from this abuse in divorced families, and place the child back in the care of the parent that is willing to allow the influence of BOTH parents freely, and enforce psychiatric evaluation and counseling to end the alienation and abuse of the child. In some serious cases, the child should not be forced to live under such abuse, if the alienating parent refuses to change their behavior. If you are not able to freely see or speak to your child/children during or after a custody battle, and this is affecting you and your children negatively, your rights are being violated, and the courts are allowing it!
