This district should be ashamed of themselves. This is absolutely disgraceful! She's he best principal this city has EVER seen and the academic improvement of the students at Brooks is proof of that!!!

Mrs. Spears is an excellent principal. My children had the privilege of attending the school she oversaw. Brooks would be my school of choice in DeKalb.
Mrs. Spears truly has all those students' best interest in mind. She does this job well.

Absolutely silly! You mean this Illinois School District #428 has nothing better to do? It smells fishy as if the board has a hidden agenda. This could have been handled with a simple reprimand instead of removing the principal from her job because of a gift she gave to teachers. Those who are involved in this mess need to know that the Bible clearly states that we reap what we sow. Shameful!

It is upsetting that such a diverse district has chosen to single out Principal Spears. If the board were truly educators they would know the damage and effect that walking a principle out in the middle of a school year can have on students. What really is the board's issue with this principle or any other administrator of color? This says a lot about what we want for our children and how politics get in the way of our ability to educate our children effectively.

I had no idea this was why she left.... I am a parent of a child at the school, and I did not appreciate not getting any type of explanation. The woman was only trying to uplift her staff and build them into better educators for our children. I am sure had she known this would get her in trouble, she would have thought twice. Bring back Ms. Spears!

Please don't allow Principal Spears to be unjustly punished for her religious beliefs. She did not infringe upon anyone's rights by distributing information. Our country's economy thrives off of businesses and organizations distributing information or marketing what they have to offer. How else would people know they exist and what opportunities they have to offer. Principal Spears did not attempt to force anyone to do anything against their will but simply offered material that she thought would encourage and inspire her staff. As a young former teacher, I totally understand how much encouragement and support are needed to retain teachers these days in the field of education. If anyone was offended, they could have done what we all do when we receive information that we don't plan to use, which is to discard it or give it to someone who may use it.

She rocks and the kids appreciate her. I worked with her and she would never do anything that would jeopardize safety or independence of a student. She embraces everyone for who they are
