This is a highlight of the TY experience and year. Its important, for development, not just for social skills - but the learning opportunities that comes from trying new classes.

I feel that my daughter would have not signed up for Ty if we were aware of this decision. In a world where it is increasing difficult to forge good and real relationships. This is a step backward.

After the success of last year's musical with the two schools working together, it seems like huge shame this can't continue, regardless of one school becoming a coeducational one.

This is disgraceful that 2 schools can't work together

No fair warning and goes against collaboration with neighbouring schools which is unhealthy.

It is a terrible shame that this is happening and really shows a disregard for the young people in both schools.

No logical explanation has been offered to parents and impacted students.

I find it totally unacceptable why things have changed for this year's transition year of 2024, it's one of the most rewarding things the students do collectively...bring it back and let the kids enjoy it, il ho one further and amalgamate the two schools, it's ridiculous in this day and age for not having a co ed school in the town of westport

Fully agree, very unfair to all students concerned. No plausible explanation offered from either principal as to the reasons for this.

As a parent of a student in this class I really think it needs to be resolved. What message are we sending to our children when two schools can't compromise for the greater good of the children they are representing

Please allow parents and students from both schools to have their say on this, in s transparent manner. Collaboration between the schools has been a great success in the past. Can't understand why it's being dropped.

It would be a shame for this lovely tradition to come to an end.

This decision to not amalgamate the schools for the TY Musical should not have been made without having an open discussion with those affected by it. Please reopen the discussion to everyone before making the final decision.

Dear members of the board, I would appreciate if you could revise your decision regarding this year's musical. While I somewhat understand you may have a predicament going forward in collaborating with Rice College due to a conflict of interest. This is not presently an issue. Forewarned is forearmed. and had students known this they may have been disinclined to choose T Y at all. It is a tradition after all so some adequate notice would have softened the blow... It is a first world problem and most fixable, Sincerely and respectfully, Olivia Thornton ( Past student)

I strongly agree with this petition. I urge the school board of management to reverse the decision. Thank you, fergal
