Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) is a technique. This artless theory explains a child's estrangement from one parent or carer of allegations of abuse at the hands of one parent by blaming the other. The theory, developed by the late Richard A. Gardner, M.D., portrays the preferred parent as an evil "alienator" who is virtually solely responsible for turning a vulnerable child against the other parent, main carer, family and close family friends.

Some parents who are emotionally abusive parents practice forms of child-rearing that are orientated towards fulfilling their own needs and goals, rather than those of their children. Their parenting style may be characterised by overt aggression towards their children, including shouting and intimidation, or they may manipulate their children using more subtle means, such as emotional blackmail. Emotional blackmail and brainwashing is behaviour projected by the Parent Alienation Syndrome parent.

We need to give children their rights to have both parents and familiesin their life.

Parental alienation is a social dynamic, generally occurring due to divorce and separation, when a child expresses unjustified hatred or unreasonably strong dislike of one parent, making access by the rejected parent difficult or impossible. These feelings may be influenced by negative comments by the other parent and by the characteristics, such as lack of empathy and warmth, of the rejected parent.

Parent Alienation Syndrome needs to be recognised in the UK, as child abuse. Please help us by signing the petition.
