We are asking for your support so are dear friend Mr Troy Barron can move on from an unjust life sentence. Mr Barron was cruelly sentence to die in a prison because he had previously been convicted of selling $25 dollars worth of crack cocaine at the age of 22 years old.

Troy is one of the thousands of prisoners sentenced under the federal three strikes and your out 21U.S.C 851 life sentence enhancement.

We the people , are asking for support in the Senator Chuck Grassley's wise sentence reform bill that specifically addresses , prisoners like Troy who are the casualties of this kind of sentences. that has seen more than 39 million non violent drug offenders and over a trillion of dollars in taxdollars wasted. Walking death sentences for $25 worth of crack is disportionitely imposed on poor people and not intended for the drug kingpins , this exposes our entire system to mistrust by the very citizens it is meant to protect. The sentencing reform bill corrects a fatal injustice -life sentence for non violent drug offenders


Troy who works for the law library /educational department, has spent 23 years in prison fighting for justice for his self and others sentence under the draconian 1986 drug act.

We support Troy clemecy petition, because he has maintained a postive Christian attitude though out his incarceration. To this date Troy has never been accused of committing a violent crime before or after he began serving his unjust sentence. This is despite being imprisoned in some of our nations toughest prisons due to the sentence of death. Ironically, Troy is imprison in the maximum security prison in Florence Colorado. While the mass murder James Holmes that killed 12 people while enjoying a movie will also spend his life in prison with in the Colorado penal system of Colorado . This defies both justice and common sense. When we take a hard look at the heinous crimes in which indeed warrant a death sentence or life sentence in prison . Selling $25 dollars worth of crack cocaine and a life sentence is cruel and unjust punishment.

We demand equal justice for Troy , by asking the President to address the specific facts of this prosecution. No citizen should cruelly serve a life sentence for a non violent drug offense Troy who at the worse we acknowledge engaged in a mere $25 economical crime can not be treated the same as a mass murderer.

Troy has recently turned 50 years old . The events he has missed are way to many to list . He only laments over missing his son's high school graduation and taking him to enroll in college. Not being there for the people who have remained supportive hurts so much more then Troy own situation sometimes .troy wants to go out of his way for them like his family and friends have for him.
As Troy nears many other milestones in his golden years that many of us take for granted , he will surley miss if we dont request equal treatment 23-yeasrs is enough. We are respectfully requesting that the president commute his walking death sentence to time served.Troy fiancee Shirley Harrisand firm supporter thoughout Troy incarceration has recenlty taken ill and could use his help to be her care giver Ms Harrishas suffered for a brain aneursym .and with Troy being home to support her in the same manner she has cred and comforted him would lower the cost and heavy burden on their family and friends and bring much needed justice for Troy.

It is time for prisoners like Troy to have a chance to enjoy their senior years, instead of being incarcerated for non violent crimes they comitted in their twenties . We are asking for freedom of Troy Barron and others lifers without parole for non violent offenses
