We, the undersigned, respectfully request the Medway School Committee allow parents of children assigned to the Spring 2014 PARCC trial assessment the ability to "opt-out" their child(ren).
At this time the PARCC assessment is not a State of Mass. mandated test, rather a test of a test. There is no law that allows the State of Mass. to mandate the random assignment of students/children to experimental programs. The PARCC trial is an experimental assessment which provides no benefit to our children, teachers or district and takes away valuable teaching time to a portion of our students/children.
Parents are being left out of decisions regarding the education of their children. Please allow our voices to be heard and give us the ability to opt-out of the PARCC Spring 2014 trial.

I have been hearing from so many of you who are just as worried as I am about our kids being used as test subjects for this trial. I am busy drafting formal requests to the committee right now to demand they respect our rights as parents. The lack of clear answers from the district is frustrating but it just proves why we need to keep pushing for transparency.

Seeing this grow makes me feel less alone in the fight to protect my own kids from these experimental tests. It is clear that so many other parents feel the same frustration about being sidelined in their children's education.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. Stop using our kids as guinea pigs for these random tests.
Let parents decide what happens in the classroom. This is just a waste of time and resources.
