Petition to request a Teacher’s Assistant / Paraprofessional for Mrs Perry’s 1st Grade Classroom

We, the below signed parents and guardians of students in Mrs Perry's 1st grade class at Crim Primary School are concerned with the current learning environment. There are some behavioral and learning issues within the classroom, that seem to be an escalating problem since the start of the school year. This is to be expected coming out of a 2 year pandemic educational phase. Children are coming from various social and educational backgrounds (virtual, private, or partial in-person learning). There are published articles citing the benefits from having a permanent teacher's assistant in the classroom due to the need for children to be re-socialized into a typical school day. We are submitting this petition to advocate for our children in the classroom and to give more support to the educational staff who are working to mitigate these issues on a daily basis. Our common goal is for the children in this classroom to all have a successful and positive school year and thrive at Crim for years to come. This will be submitted to the Crim Elementary School principal - Mrs. TenKate, the Assistant Superintendent of Special Services - Dr. Silvia, and the Superintendent of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District - Mr. Beers.
