In the light of the recent accident involving 2 15yo students being seriously injured on yew tree lane, I am in favour of reducing the speed limit to 20mph

Please make crossing roads safer for our children. Drivers are going too fast and there are also a lot of entrances and exits around these schools. If crossings were there it would make people stop and give some priority to children’s safety (and other users).

Fully agree with a 20mph zone. However, I think it should continue down Yew Tree Lane as far as the Spring Lane roundabout, an exceptionally dangerous stretch for pedestrians given the narrow road, wide vehicles, excessive speeds and very narrow footpath.

In light of recent events the 20mph speed limit around secondary schools should be a priority

I am mostly aware of the issues on Green Lane as that is the road I use the most in that area. I’m sure the combination of potholes and school traffic/parking leads to drivers being less aware of other hazards, as well as pedestrians. Reducing the limit to 20 is surely going to help, but it does need enforcing too. I live in Pannal where we already have a 20mph limit, as well as speed humps but we still have a lot of cars driving too fast.

We used to live on green lane and would very frequently see cars speeding with nothing being done by the council or police. This HAS to stop.

The incident involving my 15yr old nephew yesterday morning highlights the necessity to reduce speeds around this busy area of traffic and school children. As a driver, nearby resident and now seeing the consequences of a loved relative, I whole heartedly support measure being put in place ASAP. Next time, and there will be a next time if no action is taken, a life could be lost.
