This petition is to be sent to Commissioner Jeff Rader of DeKalb County, Georgia. We would like to show our support for the county to purchase the Pangborn Estate (located off Kahanna Drive & Pangborn Road, Decatur GA 30033) as a greenspace. This land is the original homestead of the area (approx. 9 acres), formerly owned by the Pangborn Family. It backs up to the train tracks and a creek. It's full of old hardwood trees, diverse species of birds and an abundance of wildlife. It is considered a valuable asset to the neighborhood and surrounding community. Many of our older residents of Diamond Head Subdivision personally knew Mrs. Pangborn and have said that she wanted the land to be forever left as is or converted to a greenspace. It is our intention to encourage the county to purchase this land as a greenspace.
