Hello, How many of you have every eaten a Girl Scout Cookie Girl Scout Cookies seem so harmless, it seems like a great fundraiser. But actually it\'s not, Girl Scout Cookies have palm oil in them. Palm oil harms the rainforest and you! The rainforest is cleared and orangutans and many othere animals lose their homes and food so that large oil palm plantations can be planted. Palm oil hurts you because it promotes heart disease and raises your cholestrol. I would like to urge you not to eat palm oil and to sign this petition (and send it to friends) asking Girl Scouts to stop using palm oil so that your kids are able to know what an orangutan is. Thanks! My goal is to get 500 signatures! So every one is very important!

I am honestly stunned by how many people care about protecting our forests and these animals. This momentum is entirely because of you and your decision to speak up for what is right.

April 26, 2008

I truly never imagined that one hundred people would care about this issue as much as I do. Seeing this number is honestly humbling and it is all thanks to your efforts to keep this conversation moving.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about this cause because I never imagined it would reach this far. We are just a few signatures away from the first hundred and it is all thanks to the passion you bring to this effort. Please keep pushing so we can show the Girl Scouts how many of us want to protect our forests.

Please stop using Palm Oil. Using it is killing all the Orangutans left in the World. I know you probably didn't know that, but they are big orange monkeys, and they need all of your help to live; Please help them. Thanks

As a former Girl Scout, I have continued to purchase girl scout cookies to help support our areas local troops. However, I was very disturbed to see the use of palm oil in the ingredient list. It is hard for me to think that this organization that has done such wonderful things for girls could be supporting the destruction of rainforests by sourcing this oil for their products. I will no longer purchase these cookies until you make a commitment to use more sustainable oils for your products. Furthermore, I will also work to educate others in regards to your decision to use palm oil. I sincerely hope that your organization would want to align your mission with your actions. Thank you for taking the time to consider my comments.

Do your research, GSA! When you replaced trans-fats in your cookies, you went to a saturated fat that is not only bad for people, it is bad for rainforests and orangutans. Better find an alternative and use one that's healthy or I will not buy any more cookies from you. I'll be waiting and watching.

To say there is no replacement ingredient is disingenuous.

As a person with Coronary artery disease I know the effects. You can still make cookies using heart healthy products with little effect on the taste

Something so good should not come from something so bad. We and the animals need those forests and they really are not ours to obliterate even if you have the money to do so. Cookies not only taste good but have ingredients that are not from rain forests where habitat is cut down at such an alarming rate.

Please stop using palm oil! I thought girl scouts stood for something good.

I am appalled that rather than educate people to eat palm-oil free in the light of the continuing, relentless destruction of the scientifically spectacularly interesting and essential Indonesian rainforests - you are actually tearing down the lungs of the planet to make spurious, 'sustainable' palm plantations - that are used to make 'cookies' (biscuits) for American girl-scouts! This constitutes the most enormous lack of responsibility toward our planet and the essential life-forms that nature provided - with which to sustain people healthily and humanely. Please stop using this stuff to make nibbles!
