PALMETTO BAY RESIDENTS & MORE LOCALS OPPOSE THE 87th AVE. BRIDGE & APPEAL TO COMMISSIONER DANIELLE COHEN HIGGINS AND THE ENTIRE TPO TO REJECT IT

I do not want more traffic going through our village.

Use your energy to improve public transportation. It is a danger to bring the nonstop cars to this neighborhood street,

I oppose all of the bridges.

I strongly oppose the bridging for all the reasons mentioned and many more.

Stop The Raceway!

I live near 87th avenue and i enjoy taking walking near sunset and not having to worry about speeding cars when walking. Constructing the bridge will cause and increase in traffic and make the neighborhood less pleasurable.

This is a ridiculous idea

While many may believe the BCC legislation may only affect 87 ave it includes connecting all roads. 5 bridges in Palmetto Bay will decrease safety, privacy and quality of life. The process followed to place this item on the agenda failed to provide for adequate public input by Palmetto Bay residents. This issue is hardly qualified as an emergency life safety issue meriting short notice addition to the agenda. The use of this type of discretion by the chair is at best questionable. Was the intention to short circuit Palmetto Bay's participation in the process and give public comment? One wonders if Cutler Bay had prior knowledge of the item as they were in attendance. Palmetto Bay is in line to be the sacrificial lamb to handle the unbridled growth allowed over the past 18 years.

Oppose the bridge!

As a resident of Palmetto Bay for the past fifty years, I oppose the opening of the 87th Avenue bridge. This is a fight that has been fought since my husband and I moved here in 1971. One of the reasons we chose to live here at the time, was the apparent safety the area provided for our two children - less traffic and congestion, a sense of community and the freedom to walk in the neighborhood, enjoying the beauty that surrounded us without the fear of being struck by a car. All that we loved about this area will be lost with the opening of the bridge. If this awful idea comes to fruition, we will be another USI in the middle of a residential area. I absolutely abhor the thought of the chaos the opening of the bridge will create - congestion, noise , excessive traffic and increased danger for the neighborhood children and elderly citizens who still enjoy their walks and the serenity of the neighborhood. Although I realize that things have changed in the past fifty years, I also realize that we need to protect and preserve a community that has been relished by many of us ever since we moved here. I also resent that somebody who has not been duly elected by all all of us and obviously has no concern for the citizens of Palmetto Bay is trying to bull her way through ignoring the wishes of ALL her constituents and answering only to SOME. The more I know about what happened without any of us being aware of what was going on, the more I feel that something is amiss here.

No bridge

the only reason we live in Miami is because of the quaint Village of Palmetto Bay there's no greater quiet place like it. put in the bridge it'll be like kicking over an anthill they'll be traffic on every side street to scramble back to US1 82nd and 77th Avenue and Old Cutler say goodbye to the feel- good influx of golf carts too dangerous to share with that many extra cars crime from the South will be an issue

In this area 87th Ave is Not a major county road, but merely a neighborhood street. Building the bridge will not solve the traffic congestion on 87th Ave south of 168th street, it will extend the problem a mile north on 87th ave. It will also impact more than the properties on 87th ave, it will impact the entire neighborhood with cut through traffic on all of the side streets. Neighbors beware!

I am in strong opposition to the construction of the proposed bridge. I live off of 163 Terrace and my grand kids routinely play in our front yard and sometimes accidentally go into the street. If the bridge is built the amount of vehicle traffic that will cut through will disturb the peaceful safety that we now enjoy. It appears as if you are moving the problem from one location to another and That is just not right. This is a matter of safety for our community and for my family. Please do not allow this bridge to be built.

I strongly oppose the construction of a bridge carrying 87th Avenue. I am an Civil Engineer and build roads for a living. I know how damaging and detrimental construction of the proposed bridge will do to the quality of life that I’ve enjoyed living off of 163 Terrace since 1997. Solving one problem and creating another is not a solution, literally just moves the problem down the street, and it just does not deliver a forthright solution that is right for the entire community, but just part of the community. I empeore you not to approve the construction of the proposed bridge.

Completely opposed to building a bridge on 87th avenue. This will only lead to another road being backed up and truly not offering traffic relief as well as the disruption of the current residential community.

To waste more than 3 million dollars on a bridge to nowhere. When we need so many other things and have so many problems today I can’t believe this is what you would spend this money on.

I strongly oppose the 87th ave connector project this project was pushed through without public knowledge and without traffic engineering studies that would support this project the gridlock of traffic on 87th ave north of the canal will cause gridlock on 87 ave land locking thousands upon of residents with nowhere for traffic to go but through residential streets this is not the solution to the traffic issues south of the canal and the damage to the property damage will be astronomical residents sill not be able to access 87 th ave or even be able to bs k out I 87 th ave this is a shortsighted decision by a newly appointed not elected commissioner who does not care snout her entire district apparently only the southern residents. To cause additional horrendous traffic issues and affect thousands of residents is absurd and downright wrong. The drivers from the south will actually face increased driver time sitting in 87 ave traffic at peak times Since there is literally nowhere for traffic to go this project needs to be stopped and an Injunction filed to stop it. This can be done and done now.
