No to the bridge! It will not solve the traffic problems, it just moves them a few blocks down at a huge cost and negatively impacting north Palmetto Bay neighborhoods by inviting cut thru traffic. It will only encourage more traffic through our residential neighborhoods, decrease the safety of our neighborhoods, decrease property values, and encourage more development and traffic.

No to the Bridge. I do not believe it will change traffic but it will change the safety of my kids. Once the traffic starts cutting through neighborhood blocks it will no longer be safe to ride bikes, scoot or Play hockey in the streets. People will tear up 87th avenue rushing to and from work. They will speed down quiet residential blocks where kids are currently outside play, I moved here to get away from the hustle of Miami. I moved to Palmetto Bay not bc it is CLOSE TO ANYTHING - bc it is not. I moved here so my kids could play safely outside without the worry of cars and strangers. It is a safety issue.

I oppose the building of the 87th Avenue bridge. There has been little focus on the traffic consequences that would result on the northern-most end of SW 87th Avenue - an area that is not capable of handling large volumes of traffic in its present state. The failure to thoroughly account for and provide a comprehensive plan on the traffic impact from the north end of SW 87th Avenue to US 1 at SW 144 Street and SW 141 Street makes the traffic data significantly incomplete. The traffic problem is only being pushed north to smaller Palmetto Bay neighborhood streets.

Encouraging traffic flow through a residential area is not a solution to traffic issues. Neighborhoods north of the proposed bridge will be changed in a negative way forever. There will be no ability to change this increased traffic flow once it is done. There are better long term fixes that could be done. Building better transit on US 1 or a highway (without stoplights) where the busway is that connects to 826 and I-95 will encourage traffic away from residential areas and be a better long term solution. Many residents south of 168st have home schools their local area, but are commuting north to attend schools in Palmetto Bay and Pinecrest. Improve the quality of the schools and provide for better magnets to allow for a shorter commute (attending home schools and at the same time, decrease traffic - long term solution) Encourage more business south (such as a joint use Air Base at Homestead Air Reserve Base) to give more employment opportunities and the option to not have to travel north for employment. I’ve been commuting south for over 20 years and I’m always traveling opposite the main traffic flow.
Bottom line, please don’t destroy neighborhoods that didn’t do anything to cause the traffic issues that exist today. Building a bridge is a band aid that will not fix the traffic congestion, it just promotes traffic flow through a residential area that will irreversibly change Palmetto Bay and the surrounding areas forever.

Do not build the bridge. This will not create a more efficient traffic flow pattern as the vehicles will still have to compress into the same number of thoroughfares north of 152nd Ave. It just creates a mess in more neighborhoods.

Additionally, there have already been Approved changes to Old Cutler Rd to add 4 traffic circles to improve flow. These changes have been delayed, but could have a real impact on flow improvements.
Bridging 87ave does not solve the traffic problem, but only moves it a mile north. 87 ave has no north exit to US1 so all traffic must exit 87 in residential neighborhoods. This is not a solution! This only spreads the traffic cancer to more residential neighborhoods lowering the quality of life for more voters.

I oppose the bridge. I do not believe it will alleviate traffic problems, rather it will generate multiple problems of its own. Safety concerns in the neighborhood, increased noise, pollution, and crime to name a few. Disturbance to the wildlife that inhabits the area. We need to reduce traffic via buses, trains, bikes, etc, not building more roads.
