It's important for people to understand how important bats are to California ecosystems and to our economy. They are often misunderstood creatures and they could use some good PR.

Bats are vital to their ecosystems and much maligned. Designating the Pallid bat as the bat of California will help raise positive awareness.

Bats are important insect eaters. They save farmers million of dollars in free pest control. The pallid bat is a resident of California and a perfect species for the California bat.
