We the undersigned are determined that George Betsis be charged with criminal activity to the full letter of the law by the District Attorney's office of Los Angeles County. On April 3 at approximately 8:55 a.m., George Betsis forcibly removed his son from school grounds during a minimum day drop off. Tomas was unwilling to go with him. Trustworthy eye witness accounts (whose declarations are on file with the West Los Angeles LAPD) relay and confirm that George Betsis put his son in a choke hold, dragged him across the street from the Marquez Elementary School grounds and shoved him in a car. All eyewitnesses tried to stop him by yelling, writing down the licence plate number and shouting for help. One parent tried to stop him by stepping in front of the car that George and Tom were in but the father tried to hit him with the vehicle as he sped away. George Betsis then hid out with his son for 12 days, without revealing where he was with his son, and when or if he would ever return him. He defied court order to rescind all visitation rights and to return the child to his mother immediately. His mother had been granted 100% custodial rights from Australian courts prior to the abduction. Betsis did not follow his visitation rights allowance and abducted his son instead. He is a criminal who kept a mother and an entire community in terror for 12 days. He manipulated the Australian Media (and thus the world, via internet!) by telling his "side of the story." His articles, interviews and press releases are chock- full of provable fallacies. We are appalled to learn that the District Attorney's Office is considering not pressing charges on this man. He has a laundry list of crimes against the state, and particularly against the Palisadian Community. He flaunted his defiance of court order and made a mockery of our laws. We the undersigned believe that the District Attorney's office needs to uphold its purpose, to protect its citizens from harmful persons and actions. The motto of the Los Angeles D.A. Office is: "Show no fear in pursuing the criminal element, also be fearless in the pursuit of justice." We ask that you do so now.
