Palliative care is a truly intricate field that, if lumped together with rest of health care, it may cause more problems than relief for the child, their family and the health professionals. Paedspal will fill a niche that was left vacant for far too long.

I would like to encourage anyone who could assist such a parent who has experienced a loss of a child. A parent who has lost a child will never be the same, and if I can encourage and help an organization or a person who can assist a person with this loss, I would help and encourage that person or organization as much as I could. Divine healing, psychological help, in that order might help them if they are able to receive it.

I am an American paediatric palliative care and hospice trained physician. I have worked in Botswana and spent some time in South Africa, including Cape Town. I agree wholeheartedly with Dr. Meiring's efforts to open a pediatric hospice to meet the needs of so many children and their families in the Cape Town area.

There is a great need for paediatric pc services, together with the backup of beds. This venue is close to RXH and sounds ideal.
