Our petition's mission is to demonstrate to the Jordan Lake regulating authorities (NC Dept of Parks and Recreation, NC Fish & Wildlife Service for example) that there is significant interest among North Carolinians for an area of Jordan Lake to be free of motor powered watercraft. This is not to denigrate the use of motor powered watercraft, as many of us enjoy them as well, but to demonstrate a desire by lovers of motor free watercraft (rowers, canoers, kayakers, paddlers of all kinds and the like) to have a sizeable and designated area of Jordan Lake set aside for the exclusive use of motorless watercraft.

So toward that end, we the undersigned petitioners represent to the Jordan Lake regulating authorities that we support designating a portion of Jordan Lake as restricted to motor-free watercraft only.
