I-594, which recently passed in Washington State, requires government intervention, including background checks and fees, for law abiding gun owners to sell, gift, or loan their guns to friends and non-immediate family members. This will do nothing to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and will only divert law enforcement funding and manpower to keeping tabs on citizens who have broken no laws. If we are going to be a country of personal freedom and liberty we must tell our state lawmakers we will not stand for this unnecessary law that will do nothing to fight crime.
I will be sharing this with all pertinent governing bodies in Washington State to continue to let them know demand our voices be heard and liberties be maintained.
I have been reading through the messages you all are sending and the frustration over these restrictions is honestly palpable because it feels like the bureaucracy is just piling up on us every single day. I am busy drafting formal letters to the representatives to ensure they realize we are actually paying attention to these overreaches now.

Seeing this much energy build up so fast is honestly kind of overwhelming in the best way possible because it proves people are finally seeing exactly why this initiative is such a disaster for our personal freedoms. I was honestly worried nobody else felt this strongly about the overreach but clearly I was wrong and I am so fired up to keep pushing this forward now.

Total garbage law. Criminals dont care about background checks when they get their guns off the street so why are we punishing the good guys?

Criminals won't obey these laws. All this does is make firearm ownership more difficult for us law-abiding citizens.

I guess the recent change in Senate control didn't really spell out how sick and tired we are of the government trying to micromanage and over-regulate the American people.

594 is poorly written legislation that only effects people who already obey the laws on the books.
